August marked the start of new test prep offerings from the SAP from the Princeton Review---as well as a site facelift at the Princeton Review website. If the new look, new course finder tools, or just the whole online registration process in general has left you confused, here are some detailed instructions on how to find the information to fill out the form located in your student account.
SAP members may now apply for online or classroom-based test prep courses for standardized exams such as the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, MCAT, and LSAT. The following information will walk you through the registration process from start to finish.
Accessing the Registration Form:
2. The registration form can be found on your student account page under the link: "Sign Up for Princeton Review Test Prep Course".
Choosing A Course Method - Online or Classroom?
3. Before you sign up, you will want to put some thought into what type of course you would like to take. There are upsides and downsides to both the Online and Classroom Courses:
- Online courses are more convenient (not that we recommend 3am study sessions, but you certainly could do so), but lack the individualized attention that a classroom course can provide.
- Physical classes provide the real-life experience of taking the test with pen and paper in a public space, which is great to calm your nerves and provide great-quality practice. However, getting to that classroom can be a challenge-depending on where you are, when you want to take the course, and what test you're prepping for, the only courses with seats open may be a couple of hours away!
- The LiveOnline course combines an online self-led course with scheduled weekly classes, led by a teacher, that happen online.
Your Most Recent Past Test Score
4. If you've taken the test you're prepping for already (and are working on improving your score), both SAP and Princeton Review would appreciate knowing what your score was, and what test prep you did (if you took a course to prepare). Therefore, please look up what course you took (and the company the class was with) and score report for the last test you took.
Finding your Course Options
5. At
PrincetonReview.com, there's a "Find a Class" course finder section below the images on the home page. Select your test, type in your zip code, and press "go" to begin the search.
Please note: When registering, you must submit your registration to the SAP for a course at least 30 days in advance! Please make sure the course you've selected begins more than a month from the date you submit your form. Otherwise, your request for a waived fee cannot be granted.
6. After you've entered the search section, you have two options for courses through the SAP. You can choose:
- an instructor-led course -- Choice A -- as either:
- shown below as A1 - a classroom course that meets a few days a week, OR
- shown below as A2 - a LiveOnline course that is completed online with one weekly online class with an instructor
- or you can choose a self-guided course -- Choice B -- as:
- shown below as B1 - where you complete the program by yourself online, at your own pace and directed by your individual needs.
Finding the Princeton Review Course Numbers:
7. When you've made a decision about which type of course you'd like to take, click on the yellow heading for the course (pointed to above with cursor A1, A2, or B1).
- Be sure to write this number down! You will need it in the future as well!
The easiest way to find the Course Number is to add your selected class to the cart by clicking the "Enroll" button. The left-hand column in the cart shows an ID number for the course you are requesting to register for.
Do not pay for the course or register in any way on the Princeton Review website! Only collect the ID Number of the courses you're interested in and then fill out the form on your SAP page.
8. A few tips on selecting courses:
- Make sure you know your application due dates! You will need to register more than 30 days before the course begins. And after you take the test, it may take up to 45 days (6 weeks or 1.5 months) to receive your score.
- Write down your ID Number!
- If you've figured out exactly what dates you can take the course between, make sure to write that down!
- If you have a specific course (or two) you can make, write down their details or print the page with the class times and dates listed.
- Try to choose more than one course (such as different dates and times for the same type of course).
- Or choose another course type as a backup and have that information written down as well.
- Be prepared to change your selection, in case the class(es) of your choice become full. You should have a second good option available to sign up for instead. (So write that course's details down, too!)
Filling out the Registration Form
9. After you log into your SAP account, there is a link to SAP's online registration form for test prep courses, shown below. This is where you will enter the info necessary to begin the registration process for the free course.
Finishing your Registration
10. Since you are submitting under a special free registration process, you must complete a final step to register. After your application has been received and you have been successfully signed up through the SAP, you will receive an email requesting that you call Princeton Review to finalize your application and ensure that you are fully registered for the course. It might be take up to 30 days to receive this email-requests are handled monthly.
Please note: You are not fully registered until you speak to a Princeton Review representative!
- This representative will help you find a course that's available and fits your schedule and preferences. Entering the call prepared with your course information and the dates you need have your score by will help this process! So will details about the courses you've picked out.
How, exactly, to find the Course ID Numbers for registration, is detailed in the instructions at the links here:
Registering and taking a test prep course is a vital step in the studying process, but there's still more you can do in other ways to prepare, as well as maximize the benefit you get from the course itself. Jay Rosner from Princeton Review provided the SAP with a
great study plan that can be found here. (The plan is for GRE test preparations, but works well for any standardized test.)
For more information on test prep and the benefits of preparing, please see
July's article here.
- If you don't get any results from the zip code search itself, you will need to use the map feature to find a yellow dot in a location close enough to your town.
- Double-click to zoom in, and click on one of the yellow dots to reload the dots as course location icons.
- When you see a "P"icon in an acceptable location, click on it to show a window of all the courses in the next few months for that spot.
- For example, there aren't any classroom courses offered in Durant at this time, so you might need to travel to Oklahoma City or Dallas. In the example shown, I've decided that the course in Norman will fit my schedule in November, so I've chosen to enroll for this one.
- Step 2 in the picture above points to course number needed for this specific course. Do not use these ones for your registration! These change for every single class, and the search function will only show you the classes that still have available seats.
- To see a list of LiveOnline Courses, click the "Enroll" button shown below. (Don't worry, you won't have to actually sign up or anything!)
- Then select a course that starts at least 30 days from now, ends more than 45 days before you need to submit your application with score listed, and has online class times that fit your schedule.
- You can show multiple class schedules at once by clicking on the individual headings (shown below with cursor 1).
- Once you've made a decision, click the corresponding "Enroll" button (shown above with cursor 2).
- Below shows the enrollment shopping cart page. The cursor is pointing to the official course number you need for registration.
- Choose which type of test you need and click the corresponding "Enroll" button for the online course for that test, like shown below.
